Employers Training Forum (ETF) Award Winner 2008
Alan Woodward won the regional award in February this year for individual Apprentice achievement. This Award covers all Apprentices across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire & Derbyshire which putting it into context, means 250 Apprentices were eligible for this Award. Alan won this for the extra effort he puts into everything he does, when he doesn’t know he will ask, he wants to succeed so much nothing will stop him, however he will not just find an answer, he needs to know why that is the answer and he has a strong enough character to ask even if he thinks it’s a daft question.
He is currently training to be a Junior Engineer, based in our Nottingham Head Office, and so is aware he is soon going to be managing his peers and as such knows he has to fully understand what he is requesting them to do as many will have more experience than him, however we are sure he will do well as he has a communicative style that others warm to.
He is showing a strong determination to succeed in his new role, like he said “nothing's handed to you on a plate but if you really try and focus on what you want you can get it" - if everyone young and old thinks like that then we might be able to change society for the better.
Alan was presented with his award at the locally held regional Apprentice Recruitment Open Day. He attended the event with his Parents, Daughter and Girlfriend who saw him receive the Trophy, Cheque and Certificate presented by the International and Nottingham Forest Football Legend Mr Kenny Burns.
Since this Allan has also entered the MK National Apprentice Award which saw him shortlisted to the final 10, but no further, however again clearly showing he had a talent to succeed and respond well conversationally.
