Imtech expands global maritime network in Canada
Imtech (technical services provider in Europe and the global maritime market) announces that it has expanded its maritime service network with two new branches in Canada.
On the maritime market, Imtech is a major international player with almost 70 international service points and branches in Europe, USA/Canada, the Far East, Middle East, Africa and China. Imtech has a strong position in all maritime segments - including merchant vessels, passenger ships, luxury yachts, navy vessels (e.g. frigates and corvettes), oil and gas tankers, dredgers, crane ships and other work ships. More and more ships are being fitted with Imtech technology. For strategic reasons, Imtech wishes to strengthen its service network even further, in order to provide better service in more locations to existing customers and to attract new customers.
In Canada, Imtech is active from Vancouver (British Columbia, west coast) and Halifax (Nova Scotia, east coast) via its maritime business unit Radio Holland Canada. Recently Imtech (Radio Holland) opened two new branches in Montreal (Québec) and St. Catharines (Ontario), both situated on the east side of Canada. This expansion of branches occurred partly due to a new global service contract that was awarded by a consortium of ship owners in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway. These consortia operate 131 ships in total. The multiple service contracts consist of maintenance, upgrading and integration of broadband satellite communication (including VoIP telephony), airtime and other modern network solutions on board. The value of these contracts is more than 6 million US Dollars. Additionally several other service contracts were won. The contracts make it possible to expand the number of branches in Canada, which will function as a stepping-stone to further desired growth in Canada. In the USA and Canada Imtech has been growing rather fast in 2007 and 2008. In both these countries last year the revenues in the marine market increased to more than 45 million euro.
Recently, Imtech has already expanded its maritime service network in South Africa, Norway and Panama, among other things by the acquisition of the South Africa based company Pertec. The acquisition of Van Berge Henegouwen, a multi media technology specialist on board of luxury yachts, was also completed.
