Waste to Energy Imtech Biomass
Who is Imtech Biomass?
Imtech Biomass is an integrated joint venture between Imtech Process and Imtech Industry International. Both Imtech Process and Imtech Industry International belong to the Imtech N.V. Group, which is one of the largest technical service providers in Europe with an annual turnover of nearly €5 billion.
Imtech Biomass offers the customer a full ‘EPC wrap’ service, from concept design through to plant handover and aftercare. Our experience covers delivering guaranteed performance plants across the UK and Europe for waste, biomass and water sectors. We have specialist in-house knowledge and significant engineering capability in the design of Biomass related energy projects.
Our extensive team includes a wealth of highly trained and innovative engineers, project managers and commercial specialists that ensure we deliver market leading solutions to the Biomass sector. Imtech Biomass understands the rigorous constraints associated with UK construction projects and the difficulties of dealing with statutory and regulatory bodies.
Why Choose Biomass?
One of today’s greatest challenges is the production of usable energy from non-fossil sources. Biomass feedstocks, such as wood or energy crops, provide sources of chemical energy which can be converted into such usable energy as electrical power and heat. Creation of usable energy from these sources is now key to the national renewable energy objectives and incentivised through government policies.
Combustion of these feedstocks is a well proven process. Combustion converts the majority of the chemical energy of the feedstock into ash and hot flue gases. These gases contain primarily heat energy which is used to heat water and produce high pressure steam. The steam produced can be used to drive a turbine and produce green electricity, and surplus heat can be used to service other heating duties, reducing fossil fuel usage. Flue gases are cleaned of undesirable components, in full compliance of standards, prior to discharge. Further carbon dioxide can be removed from the flue gases to minimise the discharge of “greenhouse gas”. The technology therefore provides the products we need today, from the feed materials we can afford now and in the future.
Added Value
Imtech Biomass provides measurable added value by providing a local solution to the UK biomass market from experience developed across Europe. This combination is possible due to the combination of skills and capabilities of two companies from within the same organisation – Imtech.
This combination provides a delivery capability with common high level objectives. Imtech Process has a proven track record of designing and delivering guaranteed performance plants within the requirements and constraints of the UK construction market. Imtech Industry International has developed in-house capabilities in the design of biomass combustion plants, demonstrated by a track record of projects in successful operation across Western Europe. As part of the same company group, the coupling of the two companies allows the joint venture to focus on understanding and exceeding client expectations, without third party distractions such as licensing arrangements.
