New ‘magic factory’ result of good co-operation
In Oirlo in the province of Limburg, there is a magic factory. The Magi-con® production lines at this Vitelia Voeders factory can produce almost any animal feed on a recipe basis. Together with other partners, Imtech Projects Belgium and Imtech Industrial Services supplied all the process and control equipment, in close consultation with Vitelia.
‘The Magi-con® principle, which enables Vitelia to process the feed in different ways, has now been expanded to Magi-mill®’, says commercial manager Industrial Services Zuid-Oost, Perry Konings. ‘The way we mix and blend the feed ensures an optimal structure, thus improving the animal’s ability to digest it. This is a virtually unique process in the animal feed sector that is currently being implemented in another Vitelia factory in Ysselsteyn (L).’ The basis for the factory is Implant®, a production control solution designed by Imtech Belgium for the Feed industry.
Innovation
Innovation is key to Vitelia. ‘Everything is geared to meet customer requirements as far as possible’, says Perry. ‘You could say that every farmer has his own feed. Optimally aligning the feed to the animals not only means less work for the farmer, but also better living conditions for the animals and better quality meat and eggs. In order to achieve this, good co-operation is an absolute must.’ In partnership with feed factory CAV Den Ham, Imtech Food & Feed organised an open day on 21 April. CAV Den Ham produces a wide assortment of animal feeds through a highly automated process, ensuring that customer requirements are met without sacrificing efficiency. Furthermore, flexibility must not be at the expense of sustainability. ‘Imtech installed a new automatic control system in the factory which is more focused on digital stirring rather than static control. Around 40 mixed feed companies came to see how this new system works’, says Harrij Schmeitz, coordinator at Imtech Food & Feed Competence Centre.
