After we installed the Plugwise Systems on Tuesday, the system collected the data for 2 days now. So today we went back and collected the data, and presented it to the house owners. We explained them how they could save energy by giving them advices how to change there behaviour. In example switch off the stand by systems or take a shower instead of a bath to reduce the consumption of warm water. They where all very open minded concerning the advices and we where welcomed with open arm. You must take in to account that the people in Mamelodi are mostly very poor and happy for every Rand they can save.
After we finished our work in all the households we had visit, we drove back trough the poorest part of Mamelodi. Most of them live in a shack. A shack is a one room house made off sheet metal without any floor, water and electricity. You can not describe what your feelings are when you see the way that these people live.
