Amels and Imtech celebrate partnership with first cables pulled onboard the first LIMITED EDITIONS AMELS 212 superyacht.
Recently a special event took place at the Amels shipyard in Vlissingen. The first cables were pulled on board of an Amels new building yacht, construction no. 6501. This vessel is one of the new LIMITED EDITONS AMELS 212 series: a yacht measuring more than 65 meters, with seven state-rooms, five decks, and innumerable rooms, ranging from the captain’s suite to magnificent VIP Suites, a master suite extending over the entire width of the vessel, and a dramatic “sky lounge”, a 200 m2 sundeck with a hot-tub, wet-feet bar, jet-stream pool, sky gym and “dining for twelve”. Representatives of the management of both Imtech and Amels conducted the cable-pulling ceremony. It was the symbolic start of the work of Imtech on board the yacht and the unique partnership between Imtech and Amels.
Rob Luijendijk, Managing Director of Amels explains: “It is great to have two partners having the same strong focus on quality and cooperation. The right mentality and open communication are two factors which make the project a good and pleasant one.”
Imtech’s contribution to this yacht includes the complete electrical installation, switchboards, electrical panels, electrical cabling, fire detection system, technical and luxury lighting systems and fixtures and the alarm & monitoring system. Dennis Mol, Business Unit Director Yachts: "Imtech is working closely with Amels in order to manage the project as one team, working on 1 goal: getting the yacht ready in time on the highest quality level. For this, Imtech allocated its project team in the direct vicinity of the building site, which enhances quick communication and close cooperation with Amels. From management level to the installation crew: on all levels Imtech and Amels have created a close working relationship that we can build upon. This way, we have created a unique partnership."
The Imtech 6501 and 6502 project team, along with a team from Amels, was present for the special occasion. Specifically, it involved pulling a bow-thruster cable (38 m cable, 114 m total, 174.99 kg total) from the bow-thruster space to the main switchboard. Cable pulling is not an easy job: it requires a great deal of care; and the gentlemen did the job perfectly. After the diligent work, it was time for a festive conclusion for both the IM&O and Amels project teams.

Profile of Amels
For more than a quarter-century Amels has been a recognized world leader in fine custom yacht building. It began in 1918 building rugged fishing trawlers, but turned exclusively to yachtbuilding after 1982. In 1991 Amels joined the Damen Shipyards Group, the only yachtbuilder among more than 30 quality-oriented shipyards. Now, with the global success of its “LIMITED EDITIONS” program, Amels has become a world leader in semi-custom building. Amels shares modern facilities in Vlissingen on the North Sea, as well as design and engineering disciplines, with Damen’s Schelde Naval Shipbuilding yard. Schelde, since 1875, has built some 400 cutting-edge commercial and naval ships. Amels’ facilities include extensive office space, two large covered drydocks, and two covered finishing bays where yachts up to 200 meters can be completed, and where Amels also performs major refits on yachts of its own construction and that of other builders. Currently Amels has 11 projects under construction. http://www.amels-holland.com.
