Marine electrical system integration contractor Imtech Marine & Offshore Ltd (IMOL), has combined its Billingham head office and Wallsend engineering offices, into a single custom made facility for up to 35 employees, located in Monkton, Hebburn. The company is part of the €3.8bn Euro turnover Imtech N.V. The move to Monkton at the end of January, provided a convenient location for both Teesside and Tyneside personnel and by combining under one roof, is intended to improve the efficiency of the business.

The company’s most significant achievement to date has been the successful completion of the LSD(A) contract involving the design, supply and installation of all electrical systems on four   “Bay Class” Landing Ship Dock (Auxiliary) vessels operated by the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.  IMOL continues to provide both design and operational support for these vessels and other vessels in the RFA fleet.

Building on the LSD(A) success, the company soon secured orders on further programs, including the VT Shipbuilding (now BVT) Project Khareef Offshore Patrol Vessels, CVF aircraft carrier, Astute submarine and is also involved in a big project for the conversion of two heavy lift barges into D.P. ships in Malta, for Fairstar  Heavy Transport NV.  Last year the company secured its first offshore contract with local, Riding Mill based IHC Engineering Business and today, the company continues its involvement in new naval programs and the development of new customers in the offshore market.  The company is also working hard to  develop the marine electrical support side of the business and working in co-operation with sister company Radio Holland Group.
