I am responsible for setting the overall strategy for Imtech in the UK, the implementation of this strategy across the business and for reporting to Imtech’s Executive Council in the Netherlands.
What drew you into this industry?
By accident really. I started in the industry on an apprenticeship, which, in my day was highly valued and from that point onwards I took the opportunities that arose.
What is the best thing about your job?
Every day is different, so never boring and creating solutions brings satisfaction.
Whats been the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you at work?
I don’t embarrass easily however remembering names is my biggest failing and this can occasionally create embarrassing situations.
Whats the worst thing about your job?
Constantly trying to ensure that the main contractors understand we build systems that have a start and finish and cannot be done piecemeal.
What would be your dream job if you were not in this industry?
Rava Benitez’s job (manager of Liverpool FC) or a Formula 1 racing driver.

How have you found the transition from running your own privately owned business to being part of a large corporate organisation?
Each have their own challenges and considerations within the decision making process. When its private its your risk and your money, when it’s a public business your effectively taking risks with other people’s money which can make the decision making more complex, but ultimately you have to make a decision.

Learn from others, admit mistakes and recognise that teamwork and drive will lead to success.

I don’t really have a favourite it depends on who I am with.
What do you do to relax?
